We needed some lemons today to make Misty's Cole Slaw here at the restaurant. The Dixie is right across the street, so Misty went over to get a couple. She got back with this orange'ish colored Lemon and we cut them open and were dumbfounded. . . Lemons they were not! We went online and found out they are Meyer Lemons! A cross between the Mandarin Orange and the Lemon, it has a much sweeter flavor than regular yellow lemons. Not so tart. So in honor of the Meyer Lemon my wife and I decided to plant a Meyer Lemon seed just so we could get a chance to eat another yummy fruit from what will one day possibly be a tree, and the photos are the proof of our pudding, . . . (um fruit, that is.) Today's Meyer Lemon Seed has a long life span ahead of it to grow from the seed it is today into a tree of tomorrow that we can be proud of, but as you see we only planted one seed the rest are going to dry out in a dark location on a clean dry paper towel. After they are dry, wrap them up in the paper towel and fold it closed tape it and write what the seeds are in it. Save in a dry dark location until you want to plant them or give them away to a friend so they can start a seed of fruit of their own. . . be the start of the Re-Birth Earth Challenge! Did you eat anything today that has seeds? Cool!, . . . now plant one!!!
